The Lawn Be Gone team is on a mission to bring more native plants into our community to support biodiversity, decrease water dependency and capture carbon.

We envision neighborhoods with less lawn and more habitat for wildlife. Our services provide unique opportunities for our neighbors to add native plants to their landscapes. We use naturalistic landscaping methods and sustainable practices to create beautiful spaces for our neighbors and pollinators to thrive!

“In the past, we have asked one thing of our gardens: that they be pretty. Now they have to support life, sequester carbon, feed pollinators and manage water.”

— Doug Tallamy

What We Do.

  • Free Consultations

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to see more songbirds in your yard, spend less time mowing lawn, or have a creative vision to implement in your space. Maybe you know you want a change and are unsure where to begin. Whatever it is, we are here to listen and help create your perfect landscape.

  • Custom Designs

What’s next? We create a custom design for your vision. Not sure where to begin? We are here to answer your questions, share advice, and are always extremely flexible. We create an illustration accompanied with an installation cost. We are always amenable to alterations and partial installations.

  • Efficient Installations

Next, we install the design. We use organic methods to diminish the lawn. Our services can include beautiful basalt rocks and attractive down wood. Your lawn will be transformed into much needed habitat and become a space where you can awe in the beauty of our native ecosystems.

How do our installations differ from other landscapers?

We use corn-based weed matting and cardboard to eliminate the use of any plastic-based material in all of our installations.

We do not use any pesticides or herbicides! By using strategic planting methods and plants native to our region, we reduce weeds and increase survivability.

We up-cycle materials! Not only do we reuse cardboard, we also frequently up-cycle non-toxic debris and other items! Even those pesky, plastic planting pots are reused over and over!

Our installations are low-carbon emission. We frequently use electric tools and rely on human power instead of heavy machinery. We bury lawns to keep the carbon captured in the ground.

Every installation will thoughtfully blend your dream design with the makings of a perfect habitat. By incorporating locally-sourced basalt boulders, various-sized river cobble and artistic nurse logs, our habitat creation has depth, beyond just the plants. Our ultimate goal is to increase the viable habitat we have in our community by creating beautiful and functional landscapes.
